Importance of Google Webmaster Tools in SEO

Of  all SEO tools, Google Webmaster Tools is one of the most useful tool in SEO.  Google Webmaster Tools is a set of tools for webmasters.  It is a very useful tool set that allows you to communicate with Google about your site.It also helps to adjust many aspects of how Google sees your site, such as list the external and internal links to your site, adjust the crawl rate at which Google bot indexes your site, check the keywords users typed to land on your site, as well as the click through rate for each keyword, see your site's statistics, and many more. May 20, 2015, Google rebranded Google Webmaster Tools as Google Search Console.
   
How to get started with webmaster tools

First we  have to join in webmaster tools by clicking the link http://www.google.com/webmasters/tools. Sign in with your google account you will then go to the home page.

How to add and verify site 

We can add about 10000 sites.Steps to add and verify sites are

  • First Sign into Google Search Console with your Google Account.
  • Click the Add a site button, and type the URL of the site you want to add. Make sure you type the entire URL.
  • Click Continue. The Site verification page opens.
  •  In the Name box, type a name for your site (for example, My Blog) this is Optional.
  • Select the verification method you want, and follow the instructions.  

 Dashboard

Once your site is verified you will be start datas of your website. The dashboard gives you a overview of  what keywords you are ranking and how much traffic you are getting.Dashboard includes current status of your website. There are three Widgets in dashboard are:
  • Crawl Errors
  • Search Analytics
  • Sitemaps

 Crawl errors - The Crawl Errors for websites are the details about the site URLs that the Google could  not successfully crawl.
Search Analytics shows how often your site appears in Google search results. Filter and group data by categories such as search query, page, countries, type, date, or device. Here you can see the number of clicks got your site when you tick on the click check box. Like wise you can tick on total impressions, CTR, and position to know more its details.
Site map - A sitemap is a file where you can list the web pages of your site to tell Google and other search engines about the organization of your site content. It is an XML document and maximum URLs in the sitemap are 50 k.
